Putting You at the Heart of Your Business
How do you feel about your CAM business? Do you get up feeling excited for the day ahead? Or are you finding it all a bit of a struggle?
One of the reasons complementary practitioners fall out of love with their practice is they have their priorities in the wrong order. Putting their clients first, their services second and themselves third doesn’t make for a happy life. This is setting them up for failure as their own needs aren’t being met first and foremost.
Your business, your why
When you’re running your own business, it must make you happy. It’s the whole point of working for yourself, you get to write the rules – you pick what you do, who you work with and how you spend your time.
If you aren’t happy with your practice, your clients will feel it and it will affect their experience of working with you too. Although you serve your clients, your business is built around you, your vision and values.
Placing yourself at the heart of your business, you start with why you do what you do. What is it that makes you happy? What gets you up in the morning and excited about the day ahead?
Knowing what you stand for, what you believe in, and your cause will help you to communicate effectively. It will resonate with people who have similar beliefs.
A great video to watch to is Simon Sinek’s TEDx talk, ‘Start with Why’ which explains brilliantly how powerful starting with why is. https://www.ted.com/talks/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action
Create a mind-map about you and what you stand for. It will help you to work out the things that make you, you. It will help you to identify what you should be sharing to connect with others who have the same passions as you.
Build a business that makes you happy
You will be able to craft the business that suits you and the lifestyle you want to have. By bringing more of you to the mix, it will help you find your voice. Your messages and marketing activities will be genuine and reflect you as an individual. It will be much easier for you to reach out to people and connect with them.
People buy from people and especially in health and wellbeing. Rapport is crucial to a trusting relationship and your clients will want to get to know the real you.
With you the heart of your business, you will start to recognise your favourite people to work with. These are the people you feel inspired to spend time with and love helping them achieve the results they want. You’ll have things in common with these people and probably have friends just like them.
Over time, you will attract more of your favourite people to your practice and less of those who aren’t such a great fit. The aim is to do great work, but also to love what you do and be happy.
